George Albert Haynes, 84, of Chelmsford, formerly of Acton and Concord, died Monday January 26, 2015 in Concord. He was the husband of 56 years of Trudy M. (Monahan) Haynes.
Born in Sudbury on February 1, 1930 he was the son of the late Ralph G. and Mary F. (Moynihan) Haynes. He was a 1950 graduate of Concord High School.
Mr. Haynes served in the United State Air Force from 1951 until 1955 as an Airman First Class during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed for almost thirty-three years by the Town of Concord Highway Department, retiring as Working Foreman.
A Life member of the Concord Rod and Gun Club, and the Concord and Maynard Council's of the Knights of Columbus, he was also a former member of the Maynard Area Auto Club.
In addition to his wife Trudy, survivors include his children,. Maureen A. Haynes of Uxbridge, Michael J. Haynes of Fitchburg and Anne Marie Haynes of Newburyport; two sisters, Eleanor Cullinane of Concord and Eva Campbell of Acton, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Ralph Haynes, Arthur Haynes, Ruth Belmont and Gertrude Reynard.
A funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish will be held on Tuesday, March 17th at 10 AM followed by interment with military honors in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
Concord will recognize Mr. Haynes service to his country during the Korean Conflict by flying the Town flag at half-staff on Tuesday, March 17th.
