Obituary

Gayle Kaufman, loving wife, mother, and devoted friend, died peacefully in her home on August 10th, 2010 at the age of 58 years. Gayle was born and raised in Lawrence, MA and she attended Leslie College. Gayle and her family lived in Evanston, IL for 11 years before moving to Concord, MA. She was committed to community service throughout her life. During her time in Evanston, Gayle was an active member of the Dewey Community Conference, participating in breakfast learning programs for children in the Dewey School area and working with Evanston Police and community organizers to ensure a safer neighborhood. After moving to Concord, MA, Gayle worked in real estate for 12 years in the offices of J. M. Barrett & Co. During this period, she was a member of and active participant in the League of Women Voters, the Concord-Carlisle Newcomers Club, and an organizer for Meals on Wheels. During the past three years she expanded her community involvement through the Greater Boston Association of Realtors and the MA Coalition for the Homeless. She was a true friend to all. Her warm sense of humor, indomitable spirit, loyalty, and loving heart will be sorely missed.She leaves her husband, Andrew Biewener of Concord, MA and two sons, Matthew Biewener and Eric Biewener of Cambridge, MA and their loving partners. Memorials: Donations in her memory can be made to the MA Coalition for the Homeless, 15 Bubier Street, Lynn, MA 01901. Service: A memorial gathering will take place at 4:00pm on Wednesday, August 18th at the Scout House,74 Walden Street, Concord, MA 01742.
