Frank B. Hills, Sr., 87, of Concord, died on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Care One Center in Concord following an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Beverly R. (Woolfenden) Hills who died in 2011. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 11, 1930 to his late parents, LaMar and Melba (Bringhurst) Hills. During his youth, he studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Utah and went on to receive his Master's degree from MIT in Cambridge. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant upon his honorable discharge. Frank had an incredible mind. His intellect allowed him to excel as an Electrical Engineer where he had high expertise in computer science. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by American Science & Engineering Corporation in Billerica and was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). A Concord resident since 1967, Frank was a voracious reader and thoroughly enjoyed spending time solving complicated mathematical problems and puzzles. He also enjoyed hiking and rock climbing. He is survived by one daughter, Shirley Rae Dupre of Fountain Hills, AZ, three sons, Frank B. Hills, Jr. and his wife Monique of Bedford, Robert Alan Hills and his wife Denise of Billerica, and Michael T. Hills and his wife Rachelle of Greenfield, IN, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, his sister, Lynn (Hills) Barg of Stansbury Park, UT, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late David Hills, and the brother of the late LaMar Hills. A private funeral service will be held, followed by burial with military honors at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord. Concord's Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday, August 19th in recognition of Frank's service to our country in the Air Force. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to March of Dimes, 1275 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605 (www.marchofdimes.org).
