Obituary

Francis A. Budreski, 82, a Concord resident since 1963, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Fallbrook Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Fallbrook, California. He was the beloved husband of 55 years of Francisca (Ayala) Budreski. Born in Brockton on May 6, 1929, he was the son of the late Anthony and Florence (Kvaraceus) Budreski. He attended Brockton public schools and graduated from Brockton High School. He received a Bachelor degree from the University of Georgia, where he competed in swimming, once setting a school record. He earned his Master's degree from Babson College, Wellesley. For many years, Mr. Budreski worked in remote and often exotic locations, collecting data for the creation of maps for the U. S. Geodetic Survey. He subsequently worked as an astronomer for the Smithsonian Institute in Central and South America, and in Europe. He married his wife, Francisca, in Mexico; their three children were all born abroad. He eventually brought his family to Massachusetts, where he worked for Harvard University in Cambridge. In the years preceding his retirement, he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation. In addition to his wife, Francisca, he is survived by his daughters, Rose Mary Murphy and her husband Dr. Timothy Murphy of Fallbrook, CA, Mary Theresa B. Hill and her husband John Hill of Lincoln, MA and his son, Anthony J. Budreski and his wife Apryle Budreski of Atlanta, GA, his grandchildren, Nadia Gaudette, April Gaudette and Meghan Murphy, all of Fallbrook, CA, and Baylei Budreski and Madeline Budreski, both of Atlanta, GA. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 29th from 9 AM to 10:45 AM in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 11 AM. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
