Frances S. (Cassidy) Daly, 94, of Acton, formerly of Concord, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, March 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 19, 1928 and raised in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Stafford) Cassidy. Frances attended The Convent School in Syracuse and went on to study at Syracuse University. After concluding her studies, Frances, along with her friends, moved to Boston to start her career. While working at MIT in Cambridge, Frances met her husband, William, and a short time later they married. After living in Chestnut Hill for a short time, they settled in Concord, where they spent the next 54 years. She was the mother to six children. Frances was active in the community as a member of The Milldames of Concord, Concord Garden Club and Emerson Hospital Auxiliary. After moving to Acton, she was active with the Acton Woman's Club. In between all of her community activities, Frances found time to pick up a new interest, curling. She spent more than twenty years enjoying time on the ice with all of her friends at Broomstones Curling Club of Wayland. Frances loved gardening, playing bridge, following politics, and traveling with family and friends, but by far, her true love was spending quality time with her family, extended family, friends and neighbors. Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of all who had the good fortune of being part of her life. Frances was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William J. Daly, a daughter Elizabeth Ann, a brother Jack Cassidy, and her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Daly. She is survived by her devoted children, Joann Gray of Old Greenwich, CT, William J. Daly of Bedford, NH, Martha D. Fairbrother and her husband Peter of Acton, Peter J. Daly and his wife Maureen of Marblehead and Mark J. Daly and his wife Ginger of Chelmsford, as well as 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Albright of Princeton, NJ and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Thursday, March 31st in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center from 5 to 8 pm. Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 1st at 9 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
