Emily M. (Simon) Eck, 73, of Concord, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the devoted wife of John C. Eck, Jr., with whom she recently celebrated 50 years of loving marriage. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 4, 1945 to her late parents, Frank and Emily (Mostec) Simon. While studying at Radcliffe College in Cambridge, she met her soul mate, John. Subsequently, she went on to receive an undergraduate degree in Archaeology from Boston University. After marrying John in 1967, the couple briefly resided in Brookline before relocating to Concord, where they have lived for 46 years. Her green thumb allowed their property to be graced by the beautiful gardens she tended to over the years. She was an archeology buff, and loved reading and trips to Maine. One of her greatest joys was spending quality time with her three grandchildren. She was also talented at freelance sketches, which she added to cards, much to the delight of the recipient. In addition to her husband, her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Katherine Booth and her husband Dan of Concord, and her grandchildren, Henry, Sophie, and Max Booth. She was the sister of the late Frank Simon. Family and friends may gather for visiting hours on Thursday, June 21st from 6 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Eck's memory may be made to The Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org) or to the National Trust of Historic Preservation (www.savingplaces.org).
