Elizabeth (Betty) M. Tolwinski died on December 9, 2012 in the company of her eldest son and daughter-in-law, David and Loretta Tolwinski of Concord, MA. She was born on November 19, 1923 to Piotr (Peter) and Janina Siekierda in Wilmington, Delaware. Her youngest son and daughter-in-law, Jan and Janet Tolwinski of Portland, OR, grandson Gregory Tolwinski, granddaughter Susan Tolwinski Ward and her spouse Coley Ward, and great granddaughter Cassidy Sonora Tolwinski Ward also survive her. Elizabeth was pre-deceased by grandson, Joseph David Tolwinski in 1996. She married John P. Tolwinski on September 5, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware. They lived in Wilmington, DE, Portland, ME and Hartford, CT before eventually settling in Edison, New Jersey for 25 years. In Edison Elizabeth and John raised two sons and she had a successful 20-year retail career with Macy's. Elizabeth and John retired to Stone Harbor, New Jersey and enjoyed a long retirement among extended family and friends punctuated by many memorable holiday and summer visits by their grandchildren. Following John's death in 2006, Elizabeth relocated to be near her son, David, first in Portsmouth, RI and than Concord, MA. Her final years in a senior community were bright, happy and filled with new activities, travel and friends. Elizabeth had the opportunity to meet and cuddle her great granddaughter, Cassidy Sonora Ward this past August. Elizabeth's ashes will be interred with her husband, John, at the Cape May County Veterans' Cemetery, in New Jersey. The family will plan a memorial service in New Jersey in conjunction with the interment at a date and place to be announced.
