Elizabeth M. Leslie, 88, of Templeton, formerly of Concord and Lincoln, MA, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2021 surrounded by her family, at the home of her daughter Cynthia Shaw. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 62 years, Paul M. Leslie Sr., who died in 2017.
Elizabeth leaves her son Paul Leslie Jr. and his partner Michelle Art of Winchendon; her daughter Cynthia Shaw of Templeton; her son Peter Leslie of North Carolina; her daughter Elizabeth Olivo and her husband Thomas of Leicester; her daughter Mary Leslie of Woburn; grandchildren: Valerie Ellison (Dwayne), Amy Fagan (Justin), Melissa Kearney (Nathan), Christopher Shaw (Laura), Amanda Shaw (Kristine), Joshua Leslie, Jacob Leslie, Morgan Leslie, Michael Olivo, Shawn Olivo; great grandchildren Victoria and Gabriella Proctor, Emma and Justin Fagan, Kaleigh and Brayden Shaw, Alana Bonilla, Jack and Max Kearney; loving sister of the late Helen Pierce and grandmother to the late Julie Shaw, our little angel in heaven. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Born March 26, 1933 in Concord, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Barry) Lips. She was a lifelong resident of both Concord and Lincoln. She attended Concord Public Schools and graduated in 1951. She was very active in high school. She was a cheerleader, played field hockey and was captain in her senior year. Elizabeth was on the yearbook committee, as well as many committees that were offered. In high school she found the love of her life, her husband Paul. She and Paul had a great group of friends with whom they enjoyed fun times and laughter with. She attended Fitchburg State College where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She made many dear friends at college that she continued to stay in touch with throughout her life.
Elizabeth started her teaching career in Newton as a first-grade teacher. The following year she became a first-grade teacher at The Roosevelt School in Maynard. After having two children, Elizabeth became a stay-at-home mom where she and Paul had three more children. Elizabeth's greatest joy was to raise her family, and to be a part of their lives. When her youngest child was three, Elizabeth returned to work working as a preschool teacher in Lincoln. The school eventually moved to Weston where the name changed to Weston Wing. Elizabeth devoted her love for teaching over 30 years as a preschool teacher, fostering growth and development in well over 200 children. She was also on the board of directors for Weston Wing. She continued to take classes as she always said "You can always learn something new".
Elizabeth will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She a loved a Hershey Kiss, a cup of Lipton Tea, a Dunkin Donuts strawberry frosted donut, and a winning scratch ticket.
Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation on Monday, September 27th from 8:30 to 9:45 am in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at Lincoln Cemetery.
