Obituary

Elizabeth Ida (Geissel) George, 75, of Concord, MA, formerly of Amherst, NH and Bourne, MA. died Saturday Dec. 31st, 2011 in Concord. She was the devoted mother of Lisa G. DiBartolomeo and her husband John of Acton, Peter G. George and his wife Diane of Concord, Michael G. George and his wife Cynthia of Boston , and David G. George and his wife Karen of Boston. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and was the sister of the late William Geissel. She was born in Irvington, NJ on June 10th, 1936 and was the daughter of Liesel Rieker and Gustav Geissel. She attended the schools in Union, NJ and the University of Vermont. She was married to the late Peter D George. Besides her family, Elizabeth's life's passions included advocating for individuals with special needs and mental illness. She spent numerous hours volunteering for several ARC programs and worked in a group home. Her love and compassion for those less fortunate and in need is one her of greatest legacies. A Celebration of Mrs. George's Life will be held on Sat. Jan.7th at 2 pm in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden Street, Concord Center. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. John C. Lombard, Senior Minister. All are welcome.. In lieu of flowers donations in Mrs. George's memory may be made to Minuteman ARC, Carter Center, 1269 Main St., Concord, MA 01742 or to Camp Sunshine, 35 Acadia Rd., Casco, ME 04015. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home, Susan M. Dee and Charles W. Dee, Jr., Funeral Directors. Service: A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 2 PM in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden Street, Concord, Massachusetts
