Elizabeth "Betty" L. (Brooks) Ford, 94, of Mills River, North Carolina, formerly of Concord, Mass. died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Park Ridge Hospital in Mills River NC. She was the wife of the late James A. Ford who died in February, 2004.
Betty was born in Cambridge, Mass. on July 7, 1916 to Edwin D. and Gladys Wells Brooks, founder of the The Brooks School in Concord. She lived in Concord, Mass. until 1964.
Betty loved nature, was actively engaged in conservation, was a spinner, and raised sheep. she was a founding member of the Blue Ridge Spinners and was an active spinner until her death.
She also enjoyed dog agility training and tracking, and was a founding member of the Concord Dog Training Club.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Mary E. Ford of Mills River, NC, two sons, James A. Ford Jr. and his wife, Aurora of Carlisle, Mass. and by William T. Ford and his wife, Jeannie of Big Sur, Calif. She is also survived by ten grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday June 6th in the chapel of Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street, Concord. Officiating will be Rev. Tony Buquor, Rector.
Interment will follow in the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
