IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elena Teresa
Solomon
January 1, 1959 – December 23, 2022
Elena Teresa Solomon (Kuklinski)
Elena was born January 1st, 1959 to Helen and Edward Kuklinski in Jersey City NJ. She was the youngest of her 6 siblings. She passed away on December 23 2022 after a 2 year struggle with ALS and Primary Progressive Aphasia. Elena passed away peacefully while in the loving embrace of her family, at home. She is predeceased by her brothers, Thomas, Gerald, Robert, and sister Roseanne. She is survived by her husband Gary, her two grown children Daniel,of Hudson MA and Elizabeth and her husband Mario of Marlboro MA., and her two remaining brothers Edward and James. Elena is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, loving in-laws and many truly wonderful friends.
Elena grew up in Bayonne NJ attending Horace Mann Elementary School followed by, and graduating from Bayonne High School. She then attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the mid-1970's where she met her husband of 43 years, Gary. Following Gary's graduation from the university, Elena took a hiatus from her collegiate pursuits at which point they married and moved to an apartment in Newton MA.
She attended college for several years and completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting at the University of Lowell all the while working a full time job during the day. She worked as an accountant for many years, at one point serving as US Windpower's Accounting Office Manager.
When blessed with her two beautiful children, Daniel Edward and Elizabeth Rose Helen, Elena enthusiastically embraced the role of a stay at home Mom which she fully believed to be the most important and impactful job she could ever hope for. She always put her children's interests ahead of her own and sweated every detail and parental decision that would impact their lives. When the kids were older and more self sufficient Elena took some time as a volunteer tax preparer assisting seniors with their tax returns. And after the kids were out of the house she accepted accounting positions for several years before the pandemic turned everyone's world inside out.
She loved to vacation in warm places during the peak of winter with family and close friends. Some of Elena's favorite vacation spots included Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Italy.
Elena enjoyed treasure hunting at estate sales, garage sales, and antique shows. She loved music and was a lifelong fan of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead.
She was a tireless advocate combating issues of social injustice in this country and within our community. As a locally elected member of the Hudson Democratic Town Committee Elena served for several years as its Treasurer.
Elena was a very strong person who lived her life with unflappable integrity, courage, grace, and kindness towards others. She always demanded the highest levels of moral and ethical standards of herself and from her family. She was the Solomon family's ROCK.
She was a survivor in its truest sense of the word, having survived a ruptured ectopic pregnancy while in her 20's, and then being diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer within a month of her 50th birthday. And only now succumbing to ALS. She would have celebrated her 64th birthday on New Year's Day.
