Obituary

Eleanor M. (Haynes) Cullinane, 96, a woman beloved by all who knew her, died peacefully following a brief illness at Emerson Hospital in Concord on August 15, 2022. She was the devoted wife for 69 years of the late Daniel J. Cullinane, Sr. who died in 2017. She was born in Sudbury on June 13, 1926 as the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Moynihan) Haynes. After attending Sudbury High School, she pursued a nursing degree from Framingham Union Nursing School in 1948. Later, she furthered her career by earning a specialty accreditation in Enterostomal Therapy. During World War II, she was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps, and participated as one of the "Welding Women" at a naval shipyard in Bath, Maine. Those who knew Ellie will forever remember her heart of gold. She was the ultimate caregiver, always putting others needs ahead of her own. She raised nine children with unconditional love, and selflessly cared for patients as a Nurse at Emerson Hospital for 45 years. Family and faith were the two pillars in her life. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, and enjoyed volunteering at Rosie's Place. She also cherished winter trips to Anna Maria Island in Florida for nearly two decades. Ellie was the loving and dedicated mother of Kathleen Barber and her husband John of Acton, Patrick Cullinane of Clinton, the late Daniel Cullinane, Jr., Timothy Cullinane of Sterling, Mary A. Cullinane Martin and her husband Steve of Lancaster, William Cullinane and his wife Wendy of Sterling, John Cullinane of Concord, Kelly Cullinane and her husband John of Sterling, and Thomas Cullinane of Shirley. Ellie will also be missed by her thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the dear sister of the late Gertrude Reynard, Ruth Belmont, Eva Campbell, Arthur, George and Ralph Haynes. Family and friends will celebrate Ellie's life during visiting hours in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Sunday, August 21st from 3 to 7 pm. Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 22nd at 9 am from Dee Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center.
