Elaine Hanney Romero

Elaine Hanney Romero, passed away peacefully on March 21st, 2026 in Concord MA, at the age of 82, surrounded by her boys.

Born in Whitestone, NY, Elaine grew up in Queens and attended the Garden Country Day School. She went on to Cazenovia College, before spending her early working years in New York City. She was a loving wife to her husband, Jonathan Edwards Romero (deceased), and will now be able to join him in Heaven after 22 years apart. They shared a life of over 30-years raising a family between New York City and Tuxedo Park, where she was a long-time member of the Colony Club (New York City), and the Tuxedo Club (Tuxedo Park, New York).

She is survived by her two sons, Jonathan Edwards Romero, Jr., and Gregory Hains Romero (wife, Barbara), and her grandchildren, James and Cameron (Gregory), and Julianna, Jack, and Emma (Jonathan), her sister, Carol Hafstad, and brother, Raymond Hanney (wife Virginia).

Elaine’s warmth, laughter, and unconditional love filled our lives with joy. 

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo, 10 Fox Hill Rd, Tuxedo Park, NY at 11 am on June 6th, 2026.
