Obituary

Edwin L. Williams, 89, of Lincoln died Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the beloved husband of 67 years of Ruth (Davies) Williams. Born and raised in Michigan, he attended schools there and received his engineering degree from the University of Detroit. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy in the Radar program at Massachusetts Institution of Technology. Mr. Williams retired from Raytheon Co. in Wayland and Lexington after over 30 years of employment, mostly with radar engineering and later as Director of Management Development. He was the founder of his own live jazz recording business, which recorded the music of jazz musicians throughout the Boston area. He was active with that business until the time of his death. Mr. Williams and his wife Ruth have lived in Lincoln for 63 years, where they built their home themselves with the help of their neighbors. For many years , he was one of the leaders of the Jazz program at the Lincoln Library. In addition to his wife Ruth, survivors include three sons, Thomas E. Williams and his wife Pamela of Atlanta, Michigan, John Paul Williams and his wife Rose of Hoyt, Kansas and Eric A. Williams and his wife Ann of Marlborough, 7 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and three brothers, James Williams of California, John Williams of Michigan and Conway Williams of New Hampshire. He was also the father of the late David R. Williams. Arrangements are under the care of Charles W. Dee and Susan M. Dee, Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
