Edward F. Lanchester, 74, of Concord, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, January 11, 2018. He was the loving husband for 56 years of Patricia M. (Norris) Lanchester.
He was born in Boston on March 14, 1943 to his late parents, Lawrence and Irene (Gray) Lanchester. A graduate of Brookline High School, Mr. Lanchester subsequently served as Private First Class in the Army National Guard for three years.
Prior to his retirement in 2008, he was employed as a Quality Inspector at Nuclear Metals, Starmet Corporation, and GE Healthcare in Lawrence. He was a proud life member and past Exalted Ruler of the Concord Elks. In addition, he was active with country western dance clubs and loved working for Colonial Livery for the past twelve years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind six children, Kevin Lanchester of Concord, Gary Lanchester and his wife Susan of Concord, Cheryl Lanchester of Maynard, Scott Lanchester of New Bern, NC, Glen Lanchester of Manchester, NH, and Lynne Donohue of Concord. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, two brothers, Robert and Henry Lanchester, both of AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may attend visiting hours on Monday, January 15th from 4 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center with an Elks service taking place at 7 pm. His funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 16th at 11 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home. A private burial service with military honors will be held at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
Concord's Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Tuesday, January 16th in recognition of Mr. Lanchester's honorable military service to his country.
