Edna (Johnson) Sewell, 85, formerly of Concord, MA and Amherst, NH, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton. She was the beloved wife for 58 years of Prof. John J. Sewell, Sr. who died in 2004. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on October 19, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Squire and Isabella D. (Wallace) Johnson. In 1972, she graduated from Northeastern University, School of Nursing in Boston. From 1972 until 1985, Mrs. Sewell worked as a registered nurse at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was a resident of Concord, Massachusetts from 1963 until she moved to Amherst, New Hampshire in 1985. While a resident of Amherst, she worked as a real estate agent for Caldwell Banker in Amherst until her retirement in 2007. Survivors include 1 daughter, Patricia A. Ackroyd and her husband Mike of Acton, 2 sons, John J. Sewell, Jr. and his wife Robin L. Sewell of Littleton, William R. Sewell and his wife Bernadette D. Sewell of Lexington, 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Lisa and Ryan Ackroyd, all of Acton, Jessica L. Smith and her husband Fred of Acton, Christopher P. Sewell of Littleton, John J. Sewell III and Gwendolyn M. Sewell, both of Lexington, 2 great grandchildren, Andrew and Sean Smith, both of Acton. She was also the mother of the late Thomas F. Sewell who died in 1982. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 15th in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center from 9 to 11 AM.
Service:
A graveside service will follow the visiting hours on Thursday at 11:15 AM in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. Officiating will be the Rev. Tony Buquor, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord.
