E. June (Hood) Hill, 96, of Acton, formerly of Concord died Thursday June 7, 2018 at her Acton home. She was the beloved wife of 66 years of the late Anthony Hill who died in 2016. Born in Concord on June 24, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Edith A. (MacWilliams) Hood. She grew up in West Concord, attended Concord public schools and was a 1939 graduate of Concord High School. She later received a degree in Music from New England Conservatory of Music and a degree in Education from Boston University. During World War II she worked as a teacher on Martha's Vineyard. She also taught in several other school systems, and was a pioneer in the field of Special Education. She was married to Mr. Hill in 1950, and became an Acton resident in 1952. For over 70 years, Mrs. Hill worked as a church musician, first at West Concord Union Church, later at West Acton Baptist Church and more recently at St. Matthews's United Methodist Church in Acton She was also a volunteer for many years at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the mother of Steven Hill of Gardner, Dr. Susan Williams and her husband Robert of Beaver Creek, OH, Peter Hill and his wife Cathy of Townsend and Greg Hill of Maynard, and is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Linda June Hill. A graveside service will be held on Saturday June 16th at 1 pm at Mount Hope Cemetery, 166 Central St. Acton.
