Dr. HazelPalmer passed away on July 22, 2014. She was 94.
Dr. Palmer was an archaeologist receiving her B. A. from Radcliffe College in Greek Archaeology. She later received both her M. A. and a Ph. D. in Classical Archaeology from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Palmer did a fellowship in Greece at the American School of Classical Studies. Dr. Palmer worked at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Ma. as Assistant Curator.
Dr. Palmer was recruited by the OSS during the Second World War as she was fluent in multiple languages and served in Italy, Austria and Greece.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Philip A. Palmer and Alice Decator and sisters Lois Steele and Phoebe Rideout. Surviving are nephews Philip Nute of Alaska, Kenneth Nute of Idaho, and nieces Janet Hall and Judy Twomey including many great nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at the family plot in Machiasport, Maine.
