Dorothy Emily (Sawyer) Bourgeois, 56 , of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Fitchburg and Acton, MA died Sunday April 25, 2010 in Phoenix. Born in Concord, Mass. on January 29, 1954 she was the daughter of Dorothy A. (Bowse) Sawyer of Acton and the late Richard C. Sawyer. She attended Acton public schools and was a 1972 graduate of Acton-Boxborough High School. She later received an Associate degree from Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner, Mass., and more recently was preparing to receive her Bachelors degree in Social Work from Arizona State University in Phoenix.An avid card player and bowler, she has resided in Phoenix for the past 8 years, and formerly in Fitchburg and Lunenburg. In addition to her mother, survivors include three children, Nicole Gabriel and Michelle Bourgeois, both of Arizona, and Chad Bourgeois of Fitchburg, her grandchildren, David Gabriel Zachary, Steven, Zoey and Mary Ann Bourgeois, all of Arizona, and Lisa Bourgeois of Fitchburg, her siblings, Ronald C. Sawyer of Natick, Kevin F. Sawyer and his wife Pamela of Acton, Deborah L. Sawyer of Acton, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and her former husband Gary Bourgeois. She was also the sister of the late Richard W. Sawyer. Funeral service will be held Thursday May 27th at 10 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Interment will be in the family burial plot in St. Bernard\'s Cemetery, Concord.Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 26th from 5 to 8 pm.Contributions in her memory may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472.
