Dorothy Arlene (Dakin) Edwards, age 79, of Concord and East Dennis, MA, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2022 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital following a period of declining health. Mrs. Edwards was born on June 2, 1942, in Boston, MA, a daughter of the late Rodney G. and the late Dorothy A. (Yandell) Dakin. She loved her family, especially her 2-year-old granddaughter Sofia, and was dedicated to her husband of 50 years Christopher. She is a graduate of Girls' Latin School and earned her undergraduate and master's degree from Boston University, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. A longtime teacher, she loved children. She taught third grade in Bedford and was a reading specialist in Concord. Mrs. Edwards was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Newton. She loved handwork, gardening, Hallmark movies, family traditions, holidays and cooking for family. She will also be remembered by her daughter Bethany Edwards Crocetti and her husband Paul of Sudbury, her sister-in-law Judith Williams of East Dennis, and her niece Julie Morris and her husband Stephen of East Dennis. Family members gathered for a private burial service at Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to First Baptist Church Newton, 848 Beacon St., Newton, MA 02459. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
