Doris R. Ramsey, 87, of Lincoln, Massachusetts, formerly of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania died Saturday December 27, 2014 in Weston, Massachusetts. She was the beloved wife of 64 years of the late Maj. Charles E. Ramsey, USA, (Ret.) who died in 2011.
Born in Jessup, Maryland on October 8, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Charles Creston Crouse and Marguerite (Stembler) Crouse. She attended Jessup schools and was a graduate of Elk Ridge High School in Elk Ridge , Maryland.
Mrs. Ramsey worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. prior to her marriage to Mr. Ramsey. She spent the next 15 years with her husband stationed in Germany, France, Thailand, Kansas City, Missouri and Wisconsin.
A Mechanicsburg resident from 1967 until 2010, she was a volunteer and member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, a volunteer at Seidle Memorial Hospital, a volunteer at Mechanicsburg Public Library and for many years served as a Girl Scout Leader.
She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, camping, bird watching, quilting and crocheting.
In her retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
Mrs. Ramsey was the mother of Margaret Ramsey and her husband John McCluskey of Lincoln, MA and Carl A. Ramsey and his wife Vicki of Marriottsville, MD. She was the grandmother of Russell and Cassie Cohen, Sarah McCluskey and Gregory and Kelly Ramsey, and sister of the late Charlotte Eastep of Silver Spring, MD.
Visiting hours will be held at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA on Wed. Dec. 31st from 9 to 10 am followed by a funeral service at 10 am.
Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, MA.
