Obituary

Donald L. "Lenny" Palma, 88, a lifelong Concord resident, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at his Concord home. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Donato) Palma. Born in Concord on May 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank and Caroline (Lamberti) Palma. He attended Concord public schools. During World War II, he served in the Army of the United States as a Private First Class in the Pacific Theatre of Operations in the Philippines and Korea. For many years, prior to his retirement, Mr. Palma was self-employed as a carpenter. A lifelong Concord resident, he was a life member of the Concord Rod and Gun Club, enjoyed his winters in Florida and visits to Foxwoods. An avid gardener, he enjoyed sharing his fruits and vegetables with family and friends, and was especially proud of his grandchildren and his three dogs, Cam, Cooper and Cody. Survivors include two sons, Donald L. Palma Jr., John Palma and his wife Cindy, and one daughter, Caroline Palma, all of Concord, three grandchildren, Donald L. Palma III, Jeffrey Palma and Julie Palma, all of Concord, one sister, Lena Tiano of Concord, one brother, John Palma of Concord and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Salvatore Palma, Margie Massarelli and Katrina Pazaricky. Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 12th at 9 AM from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 10 AM. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday, June 11th from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord where officers of the U. S. Army will present military honors. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Thursday in recognition of Mr. Palma's service to his country during World War II.
