Obituary

Donald "Don" Geary, 91, of Concord, MA passed away peacefully with his family by his side on his birthday - June 5, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Early) Geary for 68 years. They would have celebrated their 69th anniversary on June 18. Originally from Somerville MA, Don was a member of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. When he returned, he began his career at Shawmut Bank where he worked until his retirement as a Senior Vice President. After retiring, Don worked for several years as a consultant to the bank and as a volunteer at the VA in Bedford. Don was an avid reader, exceptional golfer, and a phenomenal solver of any crossword puzzle. His enjoyment in retirement came from spending time with Helen and their family and traveling the world. He also loved to watch his beloved Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Carol Moores of Bellingham, MA. He is predeceased by his sisters, Marie Geary of Cambridge, MA and Patricia Greer of Canton MA. He leaves behind his son, James Geary of Rhode Island, his daughter Diane (Geary) Reilly and her husband James of Marlborough MA, along with their three children, Katelyn Reilly of Marlborough and her two children, Cody James and Kayleigh Marie, Kristina Connaughton and her husband Michael of Framingham MA, and Michelle Reilly of Boston MA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families. He will be missed by many. Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Monday, June 11th from 4 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 12th at 9 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord, where representatives of the U.S. Navy will render military honors. Concord's Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Tuesday, June 12th in recognition of Don's honorable service to his country during World War II. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
