Dominic J. "Buster" Rizzitano, 82, of Concord died Sunday September 12, 2010 at Metrowest Medical Center in Natick.
Born in Concord on September 24, 1927 he was the son of the late Antonio and Suzanne (Denato) Rizzitano. He attended Concord schools and Concord High School.
Mr. Rizzitano was employed for several years at the Civil Air Terminal at Hanscom Air Force Base where he serviced planes.
From 1950 until 1952 he served in the United States Army as a Private first Class.
In 1953, he was married in St. Mary's Church in Waltham to the late Theresa (Olivo). He resided in Waltham until returning to Concord in November of 1961.
He retired in 1987 after 25 years of employment with the Town of Concord. He had previously been the owner and operator of Diamond Tree Service.
Mr. Rizzitano enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont. He also trained Standardbred and Thoroughbred horses in Sherborne, Mass. and at Race Tracks throughout the area including Rockingham, Suffolk Downs, Lincoln Downs and Narragansett Park.
He was the father of Deborah Rizzitano of Maynard, N. Kenneth Rizzitano of Concord, Dominic Rizzitano of Medfield, Charlene Hancock of Acton, Andrea Rizzitano of Waltham and the brother of Anne DeConto of Concord, Mike Rizzitano of Cherryfield, Maine, Albert Rizzitano of Concord, Victor Rizzitano of Pepperell, Virginia Rizzitano of Concord and the late Josephine Biondo, Mary Rizzitano, Joseph Rizzitano, Mark Rizzitano, Duke Rizzitano, Bella O\'Brien, Nicholas Rizzitano and Celia Rizzitano. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Alanna, Lawrence, Christina, Lauren and Dominic and 2 great-grandchildren.
Cemetery:
Interment will follow in the family burial plot in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord where officers of the U. S. Army will present military honors. Concord's town flag will be flown at half staff on Thursday in recognition of his service to his country during the Korean Conflict.
Visitation:
Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday September 15th from 2 to 8 pm.
Service:
Funeral will be held Thursday September 16th from the Dee Funeral Home , 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 10 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 11 am.
