Dimite Joanne (Buckley) Rasmussen, 86, of Concord, died Thursday, March 3rd at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton. She was the beloved wife for 46 years of David Rasmussen of Concord.
Born in Washington Courthouse, Ohio on March 23, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Robert and Eleanor (Seeburger) Buckley.
In her youth, she attended public schools in Findlay, Ohio and later graduated from Bowling Green State University. Subsequently, she earned a Master's degree in Medical Technology and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Ohio State University.
For several years, Mrs. Rasmussen was employed as a Scientist with Polaroid Corporation in Waltham and the Markem Corporation in Keene, New Hampshire.
A Concord resident since December of 1969, she was a longtime, active member of the West Concord Union Church where she sang in the choir for over forty years and participated in church activities.
She was also a member of the American Chemical Society and the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in Concord. In addition, she was devoted to culinary and needlework arts as well as gardening, which was her favorite hobby.
In addition to her husband, Dave, she is survived by her brother, Bruce Buckley of Bourbonnais, IL. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Hoffman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 11 am in the West Concord Union Church, 1317 Main Street, Concord.
