Derek P. Azzolino, 28, of Hudson and originally from Sudbury, died suddenly on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. He was the beloved son of Philip R. Azzolino and Nancy R. Gordon of Sudbury. Born in Boston on November 7, 1991, Derek graduated from Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School, and completed additional courses at Mass Bay and Middlesex Community College. Derek worked a wide variety of construction positions including carpentry, roofing, extensive tree work, electrical, plumbing, and as coordinator on various projects. He also managed and maintained a vacation rental property. Derek enjoyed active participation in many outdoor recreational activities including hiking, skiing, biking, and mountain climbing. An incredible athlete, he excelled at soccer, varsity lacrosse, and varsity football. He also loved playing and writing music, with a particular talent on drums and keyboard. He enjoyed playing with local bands. In addition to his parents, he will be forever missed by his sister, Kelsey Azzolino, a senior at University of Wisconsin-Madison, his half-sisters, Susan Campagna of Carlisle, Cheryl Kirkman of Concord, and Tracey Poole of Sudbury. Derek also leaves behind his uncles and aunts, Ross and Diane Blouin of Somerville, Dr. Billy and Nancy Gordon of Michigan, and Mark and Sharon Gordon of Florida, a step-grandmother Diane Gordon of Athens, GA, and cousins, Keith, Andrew, and Victor Gordon, and K. Ellen and Lee Hagan. He was the grandson of the late Bill and Caroline Gordon, and Phil and Ida Azzolino. A private graveside service will be held for Derek at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sudbury.
