Debra May "Debbie" Benedict, 53, of Marlborough died Wednesday November 10, 2010 at Athol Memorial Hospital in Athol, Mass. She was the beloved daughter of Bert and Fran Benedict of Templeton, Mass. Born in Cambridge on April 20, 1957, she was a 1975 graduate of Belmont High School. Debbie retired in 2007 after over 28 years of employment with Verizon. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. In addition to her parents, survivors include her brother Jim Benedict and his wife Claire of Scarborough, Maine, her sister Cindy Campbell and her husband Ross of Nashua, New Hampshire, 4 nieces, 1 nephew, 2 great nieces, 2 great nephews and many cousins. She was also the niece of Jack O'Hara of Fairfield, Connecticut, Pat Lynch of Malden, and the late Ed O'Hara and Bob Clayton. A memorial gathering will be held inJanuary. Private interment was in the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Oncology Department , Heywood Hospital, in memory of DebraMay Benedict and should be sent to Community Relations, Heywood Hospital, 242 Green Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
