Deborah W. Sass, Debbie Bean, age 54, of South Lake Tahoe, California and formerly of concord, MA, died recently following a long illness. Debbie grew up in Concord, one of four girls, attended Concord schools and graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1974.
As a young girl, Debbie enjoyed horseback riding. Along with her twin sister Cathie, she was a participant in the Musketaquid Pony Club, and as a teenager spent several years at Twin Gate Riding Camp. For many years she lovingly cared for a pony named Heidi. Additionally, she spent summers at her familys camp on Bear Island at Lake Winnepesaukee.
At CCHS Debbie was an enthusiastic cheerleader and a member of the gymnastics team. She was an avid skier, joining her family at Hodge Podge Lodge and skiing at Mt. Sunapee.
Following high school Debbie attended the University of Denver in Colorado. After college she worked in the hospitality industry for many years. She spent time living in many parts of the country including California, Washington and New Hampshire.
Debbie was an exceptional hostess, and an inventive cook. She found great joy in creating wonderful meals for her family and friends. She was a dedicated mother who was fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom while raising her children.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy W. Bean of Concord, MA; her daughter Kate Meredith Sass, her son Connor Sass, both of South Lake Tahoe, CA; her sisters, Meredith Eley of Blue Hill, ME and Julia Bean of Underhall, VT, and three nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Clifford A. Bean, and her twin sister, Cathryn W. Bean.
