David Michael Mello

David Michael Mello, of Concord, passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side on September 25, 2026, at the age of 63. He was the loving and devoted husband of Netta Altimari-Mello and the proud and dedicated father of Olivia and Sofia.

Born on October 12, 1962, David’s story began growing up in Fall River, Westport and Swansea. After graduating from Joseph Case High School in Swansea, he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, followed by a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.

Professionally, David was highly respected and accomplished. As a founding partner of Onello & Mello P.C., he built a distinguished career marked not only by expertise and success, but also by the trust and respect he earned from colleagues and clients alike. Always one for a challenge, David would take on the counseling of start-ups or entrepreneurs as seriously as he did mentoring young attorneys and staff. It was all linked in David’s mind - develop others professionally and the benefits speak for themselves. His clients valued not only his knowledge and counsel but also his honesty, dedication, and genuine care for their well-being. Many came to regard him not only as their attorney, but as a trusted friend. David’s impact through his intellect, generosity, and commitment to others will never cease to be part of the fabric of Onello & Mello.

He was a Board member of the Boston Intellectual Property Law Association. He was also an active member of the UMass Club, where he served on the Board of Governors. David’s Catholic faith was a steady guide in his life. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish in Concord, where he enjoyed participating in church events, charities and mission trips. He was a founding member of AMHL Adult Hockey League in Concord. He completed two Boston Marathons, loved spending time on the golf course, enjoyed baseball and sporting events, and skied whenever he had the chance. These passions reflected his boundless energy, enthusiasm and zest for life.

He will be remembered as the epitome of a family man. Above all else, David put his family first. He was a constant source of love, strength, and support, and there was nothing he would not do for those he loved. His greatest joy was the life he built with Netta and their daughters, who were the center of his world and the source of his deepest pride. While David was a devoted father, he was equally devoted to Netta, the love of his life and his true partner in every sense of the word. Their marriage was built on deep love, unwavering commitment, mutual respect, and friendship. Together, they shared a rare and remarkable bond, supporting one another through life's joys and challenges.

David was endlessly humble, thoughtful and generous to his core. He found great joy in caring for those he loved. Through both grand gestures and quiet daily acts of kindness, he showed his love in everything he did. He never sought recognition for the countless ways he helped others, yet his impact was felt by everyone fortunate enough to know him. Whether offering guidance, encouragement, or simply a listening ear, David touched lives with his warmth, compassion, and integrity.

Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

In addition to his wife and daughters, David leaves behind two brothers, Kevin Mello and his wife Doreen of Hanson, and Ken Mello and his wife Jennifer of Foxborough, his sisters-in-law, Olga Altimari-Che and her husband Phi Che of Middleton and Anna Maria Altimari of Boston, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother, Beverly Stewart, his brother, Michael Mello, and his sister-in-law, Rita Botto.  

Family and friends will celebrate David’s life during visiting hours in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Thursday, October 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. An additional period of visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday, October 2nd from 10:00 to 10:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Concord.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in David’s honor to Dana Farber Cancer Institute or an organization of one’s choice dedicated to finding a cure for Glioblastoma.
