David W. McWalter, 76, of Lunenburg, formerly of Acton and Concord, died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at The Highlands in Fitchburg. Born in Concord on August 19, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Helene (Manning) McWalter. He attended Concord Public Schools, graduated from Concord High School in 1958 and received an associate degree in 1960 from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston where he studied Aircraft Aviation Mechanics. For many years, prior to his retirement, David was President of McWalter Insurance Agency. As a third generation Insurance Agent he worked with his father, John and his brother, Jack at the family owned agency that was located for many years on the Milldam in Concord Center. Previously, during the early 1960's, he worked for Northeast Airlines as a mechanic at Logan Airport in Boston. An avid car enthusiast, David enjoyed restoring and collecting antique automobiles. He held memberships in many antique car clubs and was a member of the Musketaquid Sportsman's Club in Concord. He was a member and served as President of the Concord Rotary Club where he was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow. He was a Corporator of Middlesex Savings Bank in Concord, member of the Concord Chamber of Commerce, and was an insurance advisor to Sentry Insurance Company in Concord. In addition to his wife, Grace, he is survived by his son, John McWalter and his wife Jennifer, and his grandson, Patrick D. McWalter, all of Fitchburg, two brothers, John "Jack" McWalter and Robert McWalter, and his sister-in-law, Lois McWalter, all of Concord and was a loving uncle to nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Susan McWalter and brother of the late Richard McWalter. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 26th from 4 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord. Funeral will be held on Saturday, May 27th from the Dee Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10 am. Burial will be in the family burial plot in Woodlawn Cemetery, Acton.
