David S. Baker, 73, a lifelong Concord resident, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, following a long battle with Parkinson's with Lewy Body Dementia. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Winchester on October 26, 1950. He was the son of the late Stillman H. Baker and Evelyn E. (Bingham) Baker. He was a member of Concord-Carlisle High School's class of 1968, where he played on the varsity hockey and baseball teams. He served in the United States Naval Air Reserve from 1969-1974, where he was a member of the helicopter squadron on the flight deck of the USS America. David was a self-employed master electrician in Concord and the surrounding area for forty plus years.
David was an avid sports fan, following the Bruins and Red Sox closely. He loved nothing more than watching his grandchildren play their various sports throughout the years and even recently on the sidelines on his most difficult days. He was a fighter and battled to the very end.
David, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Sharyn (Driscoll) Baker, daughter, Laurie Baker McLaughlin and her husband Craig McLaughlin of Concord, son David S. Baker Jr. and his wife Debbie Baker of Concord and four precious grandchildren, Grace, Kelsey, Karleigh and Ryan. He is also survived by his oldest brother, Bob Baker of Pennsylvania, two nieces, Amy Rumpf of Pennsylvania and Amanda Fontana of Bridgewater, and their families. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronnie Baker.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, May 17 from 9:00 to 11:00 am in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, immediately followed by a graveside service in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
Concord's Town Flag will fly at half-staff on May 17, 2024 in honor of David's Naval service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research .
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
