Obituary

Conrad Wade Tambor, age 88, passed away on May 23, 2021, surrounded by his family. Wade was a longtime resident of Lexington, MA, as well as Conway NH, and most recently at Lincoln Commons in Lincoln, MA. Wade was born in Alhambra, California in 1932, the son of the late Conrad and Clara Tambor. He was a graduate of Alhambra High School, Occidental College, Newport Rhode Island Officer Candidate School, and Stanford Business School. Wade was a Navy veteran, with his first posting in Adak, Alaska. His long business career began with two paper routes and digging post holes for California Edison. A management consultant and entrepreneur, he was a Vice President at Management Systems Corporation, a Principal at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell, and Co-founder and President of TMI Systems, a software products and consulting services firm for investment management and wholesale banking. After TMI merged with another computer services company, Wade launched Hartwell Adams, a one-man advisory firm that gave him the flexibility to work close to home while helping start-up businesses. In addition to his work, Wade served as a Trustee of the Stanford Business School Trust and the Board of Directors of the Stanford Club of Boston, as well as the Membership Committee of the Boston Committee of Foreign Relations. He had a keen and curious interest in political and economic issues, and was once an advance man for a presidential campaign. Wade was actively involved in the efforts to restore Lexington's 1911 antique pumper fire car, now on display at the fire station, and proudly rode or pushed the car in many Patriot's Day parades sporting a tricon hat. He had a special love for Prince Edward Island, where he vacationed for many years with Adele and his extended family; Wade cherished the friendships that grew from the annual reunions at Dalvay-by-the-Sea. He was an avid gardener known for producing far too many giant zucchini, and enjoyed engaging in (and winning) dinner-table debates. He had wise and compassionate counsel for many who sought it, and was known to provide weekend chore lists for his children to ensure they shared his strong work ethic. Wade leaves his wife Adele M. Tambor, daughter Leann and her husband Paul Griesinger of Concord, sons Eric and his wife Csilla of Lexington, and Patrick and his wife Mary of Concord. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Matthew, Owen, and Mia. He also leaves his niece Adele and husband John Talty, and nephews Jack and John Brownfield. Wade was the great-uncle of Claire, McKinley, Cooper, and Hadley Talty, and the brother-in-law of Robert Brownfield and the late Beatrix Brownfield. Services and burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to the Hospice Comfort Care Fund at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, ℅ Philanthropy, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805 or at ( support.laheyhealth.org/LHMCgive ). The family would like to thank the entire team in Harbor Memory at Lincoln Commons for the fine care Wade received, and hospice nurse Mary Hutchinson, who guided the family through the final hours of Wade's life. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
