Obituary

Chung K. Ng, 70, of Laconia, New Hampshire, formerly of Cardiff, Wales passed away in Concord, MA on May 25, 2022. Chung was born Kong Chung Ng in Canton, China, migrated and was raised in Cardiff, Wales, as the son of the late Chee Kong and Choy Cheng (Fong) Ng, both restauranteurs. His education led him to the United States where he attended Brown University and earned his BS in Mathematics and Computer Science. Chung was considered by many to be a mastermind of his time. He was an avid chess and backgammon player. He was also a strong basketball player throughout his time at Brown and beyond. Chung also enjoyed Chinese cuisine and often experimented with cooking which he learned in his upbringing. During his professional life, Chung spent many years innovating through technology. He was involved in the early development of many technologies that are the foundation of work that continues to be used today. His career began as a Software Engineer, working for several prominent software companies, including Digital Corporation and RSA Security until he later founded his own consulting firm before retiring and spending time abroad in Cardiff, Wales. Later, having returned to New Hampshire and Massachusetts, he found himself exploring new hobbies, enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, and mostly took joy in seeing videos of his grandchildren playing the sport. Chung was the lifelong partner and husband of 14 years, to Maureen Isabella (Hagan) Ng of Hudson, MA, father of Johnathan Chung Ng of Hudson, MA and Katherine Cheng (Ng) Parente and her husband Marco Cesare Parente of Weston, CT, and the grandfather of their children, Marco Cesare, Caroline Amalia, Luca Sante, and Hagen Anna. He leaves behind three sisters, Keng Sung 'Alicia' Ng and Keng San 'Irma' (Ng) Francis and her husband John Francis of Cardiff, Wales, and Keng Ha 'Juana' (Ng) Ellett and her husband Barry Ellett of Sunbury-on-Thames, England. After a long battle with Cancer, Chung felt he had outwitted the disease and beaten the odds in many respects. Until his final day, every decision was his own. Most recently, he was planning and looking forward to returning to his hometown of Cardiff but did not make it there before his passing. He was also looking forward to returning to China; his family is planning this to be his final resting place, alongside his parents. As the family mourns in private, they ask that relatives and friends respect these wishes. To celebrate Chung's life, in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Association or a memorial scholarship fund to be shared amongst his grandchildren.
