Christopher “Chris” Carroll Dyson, of Boxborough, MA died suddenly on May 4, 2026 after a life lived boldly, creatively, and completely on his own terms. He was 41. He was an extraordinary artist, devoted friend, loving family member, and a person whose presence left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Chris grew up in Boxborough, MA and attended Beacon High School in Boston where his creativity, compassion, intelligence, and sense of humor were evident from an early age.
A gifted artist, he built a respected career as a tattoo artist opening his first shop, Trophy Life Tattoo, in 2013. Throughout his career, he worked in several tattoo studios and earned recognition for his exceptional artistic talent, including published work in tattoo magazines and an invitation to appear on the reality television show, Ink Masters. His creativity and endless talent extended beyond tattooing into graffiti art, where he completed commissioned work for law enforcement and other private organizations. In addition, his poetry provided comfort and inspiration to many through heartfelt wisdom and lyrical expression.
Chris was an explorer and adventurer. An accomplished sailor, he competed in the Junior Olympic Sailing Festival in Newport, Rhode Island, and later worked as a sailing instructor at Sail Newport. He loved speed in all its forms—on skateboard, snowboard, bicycle, sailboat, quarter midget, or his prized Subaru STI. He also enjoyed traveling, especially visiting his sister in Colorado and Oregon, backpacking along the Appalachian Trail, and exploring the trails, train yards, and coastlines of New England. He also had a special interest in quantum physics, which he studied independently.
Beyond all of his accomplishments and talents, what people will remember most about Chris is the way he showed up for others. He was deeply loyal, compassionate, forgiving, and dependable— an unwavering presence in the lives of those he loved. He valued time with his family and friends, whom he cherished deeply. Once one was loved by Chris, they were always loved.
Chris had recently married and looked forward to building a long life filled with love, adventure, and whimsy with his wife and their beloved cats.
He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
Chris is survived by his loving mother, Janet Elizabeth Sleeper Dyson of Boxborough, MA, sister, Julia Elizabeth Dyson Forbes of Bend, OR and wife, Laura Dyson (Colleton) of Acton, MA.
He was predeceased by his father, Arne Paul Dyson of Concord, MA, grandfather, Carroll B. Sleeper of Carlisle, MA, grandmother Mary Coffey Sleeper of Carlisle, MA, grandfather, Edwin E. Dyson of Portsmouth, RI, and grandmother, Borghild Dyson of Portsmouth, RI.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Sunday, May 17 from 5 to 7 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 18 at 11:00 am in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at Green Cemetery in Carlisle.
