Obituary

On Thursday, July 26, 2018, after a long illness, Cheryl Elizabeth Sullivan passed away in her hometown of Concord, Mass., surrounded by the family she loved and who loved her. She was 49 years old. Born in Concord on May 22, 1969, Cheryl enjoyed and excelled at many activities. Witty and sociable, with her sister Nancy she was a member of the majorettes at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School in the 1980s, serving as the squad's mascot. She competed as a swimmer and an equestrian in Special Olympics and took home many medals. An accomplished artist, she displayed and sold her paintings at the It's A Gift store, sponsored by the Walnut Street Center. Every September, Cheryl looked forward to reconnecting with other members of the Class of '91 of the Lexington LABB program at their reunion, where she danced and celebrated with other graduates. A long-time member of Holy Family Parish in Concord, she sang in the choir with her parents and was the inspiration for the ramp that runs along the back of the church. It serves parishioners in wheelchairs, a result of her work on the parish's Christmas bazaar. Cheryl is survived and greatly missed by her mother and father, Maureen and Cornelius Sullivan of Concord; her siblings, Colleen Sullivan and her husband Chris Grujon of Portland, OR, Cathy Mandrioli and her husband Paul Mandrioli of Concord, Neil Sullivan of Taunton, and Nancy Sullivan Lord and her husband Dan Lord of Wakefield, RI; her nieces, Jill Mandrioli, Rachel Sullivan Lord and Casey Mandrioli, one nephew, Michael Mandrioli, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family and friends will gather for visiting hours in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, on Sunday, July 29th from 1 to 3 pm. An additional period of visitation will begin in the funeral home at 9 am on Monday, July 30th, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Cheryl's memory may donate to the Minute Man Arc, 35 Forest Ridge Road, Concord, MA 01742.
