Chauncey W. "Don" Erickson, 93, of Acton, formerly of Concord died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Concord Health Care Center in Concord. He was the beloved husband for 51 years of the late Rita P. (Sexton) Erickson.
Born in Chelsea on October 30, 1920 he was the son of the late Albin G. and Doris E. (Innes) Erickson. He attended Everett public schools and graduated from Everett High School. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and attended classes at Northeastern University, Wentworth Institute, and MIT.
For many years, prior to his retirement in 1990, Mr. Erickson worked for GenRad as an Engineer and held other numerous positions there. Previously, he worked as a design draftsman for H.K. Porter, Inc. in Somerville. During the 1980's and 90's, he worked part-time at Concord Lumber Corporation in Concord and was a private tutor teaching mechanical drafting.
A longtime Concord resident, he was a volunteer at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He designed and built his own home in Concord and enjoyed fishing, reading, was a model train enthusiast and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include 2 sons, Richard Erickson and his wife Catherine of Norwood, Robert Erickson of Westford, 2 daughters, Regina Erickson of Acton and Ruth Materna and her husband David of Chelmsford, 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel and Michelle Materna, all of Chelmsford and Mary Catherine Erickson of Norwood. Brother of George D. Erickson of Ipswich and the late Emily Holthouse and brother-in-law of Sister Loretta Sexton, SND of Ipswich. Close friend of Rena Marchi of Concord. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Wednesday, October 29th at 10 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
Burial will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, October 28th from 4 to 7 pm.
