Obituary

Charles E. Doyle, Retired Deputy Chief, Lincoln Police Department, 71, of Maynard, formerly of West Concord died Friday, February 10, 2012 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Martha Jean (Leslie) Doyle who died in 2000. Born in West Concord on March 16, 1940 he was the son of the late C. Edward and Mary (Reilly) Doyle. He attended Concord public schools and graduated from Concord High School in 1958. He received an associate degree in law enforcement at Suffolk University in Boston and graduated from the State Police Academy in Framingham. During the Vietnam Era, he served in the U. S. Air Force. He began his career as a patrolman and retired as Deputy Chief after serving for over thirty years for the Town of Lincoln, Police Department. A longtime resident of West Concord, he served as an usher at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in West Concord where he was a lifetime communicant. He was a member of the Antique Auto Club and was an avid collector of antique automobiles. Survivors include his 5 children, Cathleen Calawa, Christina Curtin, Colleen Doyle, Caragh Doyle, Corrie Luongo, 4 step-children, Earl Rivers, Debbie Perro, Kimberly Phinney, David Rivers, 1 brother, John Doyle and his wife Mary, 3 sisters, Veronica Orpik and her husband Bill, Sheila Spooner and her husband Frank and Rosetta Moreau and her husband Tom and many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also the step-father of the late Kenneth Rivers. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 14th from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 9 AM followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10 AM. Following the Mass, officers of the U. S. Air Force will present military honors. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Monday, February 13th from 4 to 8 PM. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Tuesday in recognition of Mr. Doyle's service to his country in the U. S. Air Force. Contributions in his memory may be made to Family Assistance Fund, c/o Holy Family Parish, 55 Church Street, Concord, MA 01742. Arrangements are under the care of Susan M. Dee and Charles W.
