IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Celia
Mezick
April 25, 1928 – October 19, 2023
Celia Diana Mezick, age 95, a resident of New Horizons in Marlborough for the past 13 years, passed away suddenly at Emerson Hospital in Concord on Thursday, October 19, 2023. She was the devoted wife of the late Daniel George Mezick.
She was born in Bridgeport, CT on April 25, 1928 and was the daughter of Peter and Laura (Macey) Scianna. Celia was raised in Bridgeport and was a graduate of Bridgeport Central High School, Class of 1945. She also attended Butler Business School in Bridgeport and graduated in 1947.
Celia and Daniel were married on November 23, 1950. Before having her children, Celia was employed at Bridgeport City Trust in Bridgeport, CT. Celia was also employed as a Medical Insurance Specialist at Yale New Haven Hospital for over 20 years.
As a young girl, Ceil played classical piano which gave her a lifelong appreciation of music. She loved going to the ballet and musical theater and enjoyed all types artistic expression. Her love of people led her to many spontaneous encounters with perfect strangers which sometimes led to her giving them a gift such as one of the many rings on her fingers (she loved sparkly jewelry!). She enjoyed dressing up for her nightly dinners and painted her beautiful long nails any color of the rainbow as long as they matched her outfit. She loved babies, Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, and lobster rolls. She was an excellent cook and master knitter. By her example, she taught compassion for self and perseverance in the face of adversity. As a mother, she gave her children the freedom to express themselves, and to succeed in so doing. She was always an encouraging and ardent supporter of whatever each child was interested in. In this way she was a great mother to each of her children.
She was always curious about people and the world around her. She was irreverent, feisty, silly, laughed often and was a joy to be with. Her inimitable spirit will live on in all those who knew her and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim M Mezick of Somerville, MA, Karen M Mezick of Lunenburg, MA and her son, Daniel J Mezick of Wallingford, CT.
Services were private.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
