Cecilia R. (Brown) Martorana, 90, of Concord, formerly of Lexington, died Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Apple Valley Center in Ayer. She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Martorana.
Born in Hanford, California on July 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John E. Brown and Rose A. (Gomes) Brown. She grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts, attended Monroe Grammar school and graduated from Lexington High School.
For many years, prior to her retirement in 2005, Mrs. Martorana worked in the environmental services department of the New England Deaconess Association in Concord.
At the age of 19, she resided in Worcester where she worked as an inspector at the Knitting Factory, the Telethon Factory and the Baldwin Duckworth Factory, all in Worcester. During the 1980's and 90's, Mrs. Martorana worked at the Radisson Hotel in Chelmsford and later was the Supervisor of Housekeeping at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
A resident of Concord since 1989, she had a passion for the beauty of cosmos flowers. She was a former member of the Worcester Musical Festival Chorus under the direction of Sarah Caldwell.
Survivors include her son, Frank Martorana of California, her sister, Rose Butler of Roseville, Michigan, her cousins, Eleanor Roderick and Lynn Roderick, both of Westford.
Memorial services will be announced in the springtime.
