Cecile Jean Hallock, 95, formerly of Catskill, NY, died May 16, 2020 at Rivercrest Rehab and Nursing Center in Concord, Mass. Born in Elgin, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Benjamin and Nellie Cecile Voigt. Jean received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and a Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin. She taught Business Education in Illinois and West Virginia. She married Herbert Bentley Hallock on April 18, 1953. She moved to in Athens in 1979 after her husband's retirement from his engineering career on Long Island. In 1984, they moved to Catskill. Jean was a member of the Federated Church and served as an auditor. A former president of the Athens Community Garden Club, she was a frequent blue ribbon winner in their flower shows. Jean did volunteer work for the Senior Companion Office and Hospice. She was also a member of the Adult Learning Institute and several Bridge clubs including A-ta-te-ka. Her husband Herbert B. Hallock, Jr. died July 29, 1993. In 2007 she moved to Concord, Mass. Loving mother of Carol Sohn and her husband Peter of Chelmsford, Mass; grandmother of Jennifer and Rebecca, aunt of Eloise Casto and Susan Wellcome. She was preceded in death by her sister Edith Devine and her nephew Richard Devine. Private graveside services were conducted at Town of Catskill Cemetery.
