Obituary

Catherine G. (Healy) Robbins, age 64, of Concord, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on July 5, 2021. She was the beloved and devoted mother of Thomas and Hillary Robbins, both of Concord. Born in Boston on March 21, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude Healy. She was raised in Chelmsford, and went on to attend Regis College in Weston, before earning her nursing degree from Boston College. For many years, Kate was a dedicated Registered Nurse at Boston Children's Hospital. She was also an avid gardener who loved singing and playing the violin. She cherished the many years spent living in Concord, especially given her love of history and literature. Kate remained steadfast to her catholic faith, particularly during her illness. Always genuine and friendly to anyone she met, Kate will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and natural ability to appreciate the beauty in everything and everyone. In addition, Kate will of course be remembered as a consummate survivor who, in the face of nearly impossible odds, navigated twenty years of trials and treatments battling lung cancer. In addition to her children, Kate will be forever missed by her sister, Barbara Van Sickle and her husband Edward of Needham, two brothers-in-law, Kevin McGowan of Chelmsford and Craig Robbins of Boston, two nieces, Elise McGowan and Jacqueline Van Sickle, and one nephew, Ted Van Sickle. In addition to her parents, Kate was predeceased by her sister, Frances McGowan. Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Friday, July 9th from 5 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Kate's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 10th at 10 am in St. Irene Parish, 181 East Street, Carlisle. Please click here to view the church livestream of the Mass . Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord. While she loved flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Mass General Cancer Center c/o Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114. Kate's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Massachusetts General Hospital for their compassionate care. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
