Mrs. Catherine F. "Kay" Harrison, a longtime Concord resident, died peacefully on Saturday, April 4th at the Life Care Center in Acton at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife for 50 years of the late Robert P. Harrison who died in 1994.
Born in Boston on March 31, 1919 she was the daughter of the late John H. and Catherine F. (Dannahy) Murphy.
She graduated from Dorchester High School For Girls in 1938 and married Robert in 1945.
A Concord resident since 1953, Kay was a homemaker and raised her four children. She loved spending time at "Kay's" beach in Harwichport, MA where she summered regularly with family and friends.
A longtime communicant of Holy Family Parish in Concord, she was a member of the Circle of Friends and enjoyed traveling with the group on several occasions.
Kay enjoyed bowling and square dancing. Both her and her husband were active members of the Acton Squarewheeler's.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy E. Harrison of Somerville, her son, Mark C. Harrison and his fiancé Julie Trainor of Littleton, her daughter-in-law, Debbie Harrison of East Harwich, her grandchildren, James C. Harrison and Heather L. Harrison, as well as six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Robert P. Harrison, Jr., and David M. Harrison and was the sister of the late Anne Breen, Margaret Murphy, and Evelyn Gaffney.
Funeral will be held on Friday, April 10th at 9 am from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center.
Burial will be in the family plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, with a reception to follow.
Visiting hours are Thursday, April 9th from 4 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home.
