Obituary

Carol L. O'Neill was born and raised in NYC—a proud New Yorker and always a Yankees fan. Her father S. Leslie Gill was a fashion photographer and her mother Dilys Wall Gill a successful fashion illustrator. Both were born in Rhode Island and met at Brown University. Carol's first job was as a hand model. Hers were one pair of beautiful hands in magazine ads. The next career step was as a fashion stylist for advertising agencies and photography studios. She met her husband Martin O'Neill at Young & Rubicam in 1957. Think Mad Men. Carol loved to travel, was an avid trophy winning tennis player, and opera fan. Her absolute favorite was Rigoletto. In the later part of her life, she had a long and happy relationship with Leonard Zucker. She and Lenny spent much of their time in Sag Harbor, Long Island where for many years she had a vintage linens store. She is survived by her daughter Lucinda O'Neill, her grandson Evan Massauro, her sisters Eliza Werner and Leslie Gill, nephew Oliver Werner, brother-in-law Fred Werner, and favorite "son-in-law" Ken Turnbull. My mother was smart, she loved to be amused, and her head always turned to look at a handsome man regardless of her age or theirs. She lived a good life of nearly 87 years. She was one of a kind. She will be missed. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
