Obituary

Betty Ruth (Moore) Roosa, 83, of Concord, Massachusetts, formerly of Wyoming, Ohio, died peacefully April 23, 2010 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the beloved wife of John P. Roosa, Jr. Born on February 13, 1927 in Covington, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Wade) Moore. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. For many years, Mrs. Roosa worked as a Pharmacist in the Cincinnati area. A fifty-year resident of Wyoming, Ohio, she was a member of the Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati. She was a member and past president of the Cincinnati League of Womens Voters. She raised three children and devoted countless hours to civic and political work. In 2007, she and her husband moved to Concord, Massachusetts to be near her daughters. In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Carol Roosa and her husband Paul Kelly of Concord, MA, Nancy Ellen Roosa and her husband Alex Moot of Medford, MA, one son, John P. Roosa III and his wife Ayu Ratih of Vancouver, Canada and Jakarta, Indonesia, 5 grandchildren, Nat and Seth Kelly, Kaly and Ellis Moot and Tossan Roosa. She was also the sister of the late Charles, Vernon and Velma Moore. Services were held on Friday, April 30th at 1:30 PM in the Concord Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord. Officiating will be the Rev. Lilian Warner, Chaplain of the New England Deaconess Association in Concord. Interment will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord where Rev. Warner will read the committal prayers. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Cincinnati League of Women Voters, Education Fund, or the Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church, both at 103 William Howard Taft Road, Cincinnati, OH 45219.
