Obituary

Betty A. Pirro, 91, passed away on August 14, 2024 in Dedham, Massachusetts.

Betty was the wife of the late Armand A. Pirro of Naples, Florida where she lived for over thirty years before returning to Massachusetts. Armand and Betty were married for 67 years. She leaves two daughters, Deborah Reed of Mashpee, Massachusetts; Beth Cook and her husband Michael Cook of Quincy, Massachusetts; a son, David Pirro and his husband Michael Pelletier of West Roxbury, Massachusetts; and Andrew Calamare, a younger brother whom she raised, and his wife Marianne Connolly of Boston Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, William Reed and her sister, Marilyn Arsenault. She leaves five grandchildren; Jonathan Reed, Andrew Cook, William Cook, Nicholas Calamare and Patrick Calamare, and four great grandchildren.

Betty was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Andrew and Margery Calamare, graduated from Fitchburg High School and was an administrative assistant at the Fitchburg Sentinel.

With her husband, Armand, she raised her family in Leominster, Massachusetts and served as long-time volunteer at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Retiring in Naples Florida, Betty loved living on the ocean and, in addition to homes in Naples, Florida and Concord Massachusetts, she spent many summers at a family home in Altura Portugal. She was an avid reader, prolific needlepointer and walked three miles a day along the Gulf of Mexico well into her late eighties.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at NewBridge on the Charles for their compassionate care over the past two years.
