Barbara Jean (Russell) Sayward, 82, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010. She was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Alden H. Russell of Concord, the beloved wife of the late John W. Sayward of Stow and the beloved sister of John H. Russell of Reading and Richard W. Russell of Manlius, N.Y. She was the loving mother of John W. Sayward, Jr. and his wife, Vivian, of San Diego, Calif., Jean L. Hekkala and her husband, Ralph, and Thomas R. Sayward of Stow; loving grandmother of Erik Hekkala, Jeremy Sayward and his wife, Lacey, Karley Forhan and her husband, Michael and Lindsay, Stacey and Zachary Sayward; and loving great-grandmother of Anna Hekkala, and Alyza, Mason, and Camdyn Sayward. Barbara graduated from Concord High School and Colby Junior College. She worked as a laboratory technician at Emerson Hospital, and was also employed at Patriot Travel as a travel agent. In retirement, Barbara was active in the Concord Council on Aging and enjoyed poetry, painting, and playing games with her family and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at the First Parish Church, Lexington Road, Concord. Reception following.
