Barbara A. (Leahey) Roeber, age 91, of Concord, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife for 67 years of Fred W. Roeber.
Born on July 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and Francis Leahey. Barbara was born in Lilly, Pennsylvania, where her adored father Francis was the local dentist. Growing up in Lilly was very special to her. Barbara went to Mt Aloysius in Cresson, PA from second grade through her first two years of college; and she graduated from Seton Hill College in 1951 with a degree in Chemistry.
She moved to New York City where she met her husband Fred. Fred knew she was the one. They were married in Lilly and spent 67 wonderful years together raising their family. Time spent with family and friends was always the focus and highlight of Barbara's life. Her children are forever grateful to her for the lessons she taught and the adventures she created; which they were privileged to share with aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends. Barbara was very involved in St. Bernard's Church in Concord, including the choir and the sodality. Many loved her because she was a lifelong believer in the phrase "a stranger is just a friend you've never met".
In addition to her loving husband, Fred, she is also survived - and will be deeply missed – by her beloved brother Jim; her children Fred, Jim, Lisa, Claudia, and Kim; her daughters-in-law, Cindy and Mary and sons-in-law John and John; her beloved grandchildren, Megan, Tim, Molly, Maddie, JoJo, and Charlie; her treasured sisters-in-law Dolores, Anne, and Colleen; her many much-loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces/great-nephews; and her many friends.
Our beautiful and much-beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister's life will be celebrated during a private Funeral Mass on Monday, November 1st in Holy Family Parish, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her memory to Mount Aloysius College, 7373 Admiral Peary Highway, Cresson, PA 16630.
Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
