Obituary

Barbara F. (Moran) O'Malley, of Concord, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the age of 98.

She was born in Clinton, Massachusetts on January 29, 1925 to the late Patrick J. and Helen T. (Hastings) Moran. It was there that she met her husband, Joseph R. O'Malley, who predeceased her in 1992. The couple moved to Concord in 1953 where they raised their five children.

With visitors frequently in and out of the house, "Mrs. O'Malley" was a favorite of all the kids in the neighborhood who were always welcomed in her home. She was a long-time communicant of St. Bernard's Church and served as a Eucharistic minister, a member of Sodality, as well as, a committee member in several ministries. She enjoyed summers at Hampton Beach where she continued to serve at St. Patrick's Church. Barbara was active, with her husband, Joe, in the early days of the Concord Minutemen, belonged to the Milldames, and, in later years, was a frequent participant on trips with the Council for the Aging. An avid bridge player, Barbara forged lifelong friendships and went on many an adventure with the ladies in her bridge club. Above all else, Barbara was devoted to her family, serving as a chaperone on many school outings, making refreshments, and chauffeuring whenever asked. She championed her grandchildren attending many sports, theatre, music and academic activities throughout the years.

Barbara is survived by four of her children and their families, having been predeceased by her oldest son, Joseph R. O'Malley Jr. in 2006. She leaves behind her son, Michael O'Malley and his wife, Pauline of Bridgewater, N.H., her daughters, Mary Pat O'Malley of Cambridge, Helen O'Malley of Concord, Barbara O'Malley Cannon and her husband, Franklin "Chip" of Concord and her daughter-in-law, Lorie Davis of Concord; her grandchildren, Meeghan Piemonte Peirce and her husband, Sean, McCall O'Malley, Mara O'Malley and her fiancé, Alex Kramer, Logan O'Malley and his wife, Dakota, F. Adam Cannon and his partner, Amber Glass, Patrick Cannon, and Mitchell Cannon; and her great grandchildren Nora and Mary Peirce, Ronan and Mason O'Malley; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Mary Warner of Stuart, Florida, and was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Machado, in 2012, with whom she traveled extensively. Barbara was a true matriarch, and will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
