Barbara R. O'Doherty, long time resident of Concord, Massachusetts died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Rose Monahan House in Worcester. She was 95. Born to John & Catherine Cunningham in Saugus, Massachusetts on July 25, 1921, she was one of four children. She attended Saugus High School and graduated in 1939. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed many camping and skiing trips up north as a young woman. She was married to Constantine H. O'Doherty (Connie) from 1947 until his passing in 1998. Together, they had eight children and lived throughout the northeast in their early years including Washington D.C., Woburn, and Saugus before settling at their longtime residence on Lawsbrook Road in Concord. After raising their children, they enjoyed several great trips throughout the country and abroad. Barbara was gracious and exceptionally polite with a wonderful, wry sense of humor. She encouraged her children to discover, enjoy and appreciate the world around them. She exemplified love in action and led her family with unwavering devotion and quiet strength. She leaves behind her children, Constantine O'Doherty, and wife Lynn, of Pocasset; Sharon O'Doherty of Groton; Diane Hadley, and husband Bill of Billerica; Michael O'Doherty, and wife Catherine, of Worcester; Gerard O'Doherty, and wife Cecilia Nunez O'Doherty of Lincoln; Maggie Bero, and husband Burke of Pepperell; daughter-in-law Carol Ringer of Grafton; and cousin, Frances Anderson of Atkinson, NH. Barbara also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Maureen, 2016; a son, Kevin who died in infancy; brothers John and Robert Cunningham and sister Christine Fairbank. Calling hours for Barbara Rose O'Doherty will be held from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA. Service will follow at the funeral home at 11:30 am with burial to follow in the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
