Barbara A. (Albani) Curran, 93, a longtime Concord resident, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on May 4, 2026. She was the loving wife of the late Francis D. Curran, who died in 2015.
She was born on July 5, 1932, as the daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Venti) Albani. Barbara grew up in Bedford. Her younger years were spent with her large, tight-knit Italian family. She graduated from Concord High School in 1951, and later married her husband Frank in 1957, whom she met while in school.
Her first career was working for the office of Dr. Lord in Bedford. In the late 1960’s, Barbara began a long tenure with the Town of Concord’s school department. She first worked at the switchboard, followed by the transportation office, and later in the Registrar’s office at the High School.
Barbara embraced and enjoyed the simple pleasures life gifted to her – a beloved family, a blooming garden and the opportunity to take camping trips around the United States and Canada, which hold special memories. She also enjoyed knitting. Several family members were beneficiaries of hats and mittens she made by hand.
She leaves behind three children, David Curran and his wife Claudia of Concord, Mary Curran of Concord and Timothy Curran and his wife Sonya of Leland, NC, her grandchildren, Justine Curran, Lindsey Baum and her husband John, Elizabeth Curran, Michael Bendel and his wife Nikki, Brian Bendel, Allison Bendel, Robert Bendel and his wife Jen, Timothy Curran and Christine Ibrahim and her husband John, along with her great-grandchildren, Sophia Laney, Greyson Baum, Kayla Brookings, Emily, Annabelle, Aliyah and James Bendel. She was the sister of Richard Albani and his wife Susan of Auburn, the late Louise Buller and the late James Albani. Barbara is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Sunday, May 10th from 5 to 8 pm at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Barbara’s funeral will be held on Monday, May 11th at 10 am from Dee Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Concord Council on Aging Gift Account by sending a donation payable to Town of Concord, 1276 Main Street, Concord, MA 01742.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
